founding member of the Defence Universities Alliance , which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Defence, the UK Armed Forces, the Office of the Chief Scientific Advisor for National Security and the higher education sector. It equips students with specialist technical and in-demand skills such as engineering, computing, data science, AI, project management, ocean exploration and cyber security.

**A focus on nuclear science and the environment
With the nuclear sector forecast to require an additional 40,000 qualified personnel nationally by 2030, we've been working with Babcock International and the UK Ministry of Defence to deliver a specialist nuclear science option* for three of our MEng degrees:

BEng or MEng?
BEng (Bachelor of Engineering) is the traditional way of studying engineering and involves three years of study in your chosen subject, or four years with a placement.

MEng (integrated masters) is a four-year degree (or five with a placement) that extends your studies to masters level and provides a quicker, more direct route to chartered engineer status.
